From Mykonos and Santorini in the Cyclades to Zakynthos in the Ionian to the largest island in Greece, Crete.
With warm sun and pure emerald-green water not found anywhere else in Europe, Greece seems to have been created specifically for yachting. Hundreds of contrasting islands, irresistible beaches, cosmopolitan ports, historic sites and fascinating landscapes ensure a cruise filled with moments that will remain in your heart forever.
To cruise is to make choices. Do you wish to visit the mainland or the island groups? If so, would it be the Cyclades, the islands of the Saronic Gulf, the Dodecanese, the Sporades or the islands of the northeast? Or Crete? There are at least seven basic charter itineraries and each divisible by lifestyle-beaches or history? Because of the Meltemi, the strong, warm winds that rake the area form the north and northeast in the summer, the safest Greek itineraries are in the Ionian Sea and among the Dodecanese, bouncing from Greece to Turkish ports. For food, history and variety of scenery, the Ionian Islands from Corfu to Zakynthos are clear winners. The islands on the western shore of Greece have drawn seafarers ever since the days when Homer’s Odysseus found shelter among them. An endless stream of cultures has left its mark upon the land and the people. This is Greece’s “green coast”, wrapping an incredibly transparent blue-green sea with golden beaches backing up to endless olive groves. Unlike most islands in the Med, these remain luxuriously green all summer. It’s no wonder they were name for Io, the beautiful mistress of Zeus, king of the ancient Greek pantheon. Many of the bays are accessible only by yachts, giving privacy and the chance to explore.
