Viking has become the global leader when it comes to building quality sportfishing yachts and motoryachts. Founded in the early 1960's by Bob and Bill Healey, Viking built its vessels much like Carolina builders, assembling the boats on frames at intervals throughout the manufacturing facility. By 1972 they were already working on the first all-fiberglass model, the Viking 33C, and building their way into history as one of the finest yacht brands in the world.
Viking quickly grew into a major U.S.-based yacht builder in less than a decade. In the 80's, Viking acquired Gulfstar Yachts in Florida whose designs were considered by many to be some of the best in the industry, and incorporated new innovations that would change the sportfishing market forever. Re-investing with their own money in the early 90's, the brand has been on top of the world ever since.
Viking Yachts does most of its manufacturing in-house which results in an unparalleled level of quality control from concept to finished yacht, which has helped it maintain an untouchable reputation with Viking owners.
The innovative technology such as advanced resin infusion for the tankage and engine-room vent, industry-leading flying bridge advances, tuna towers, forward and aft bait stations, outriggers and more has helped keep the Viking brand at the top of the game. In 2010, they unveiled their new pod drive system and a new series of engines rated at over 2,600 hp at the Miami Boat Show, to keep the performance on par with their striking look and aggressive rake.
Today the Healey brothers still preside over the company, maintaining the quality brand that Viking has come to represent for over half a century. Their 600,000+ square-foot development and manufacturing facility is state-of-the-art, housing over 1,400 employees crafting the finest yachts on the market.
