Steve entered the marine industry during the Miami Boat show in 1975. While computers were not as commonplace as they are today, Steve took a leap and joined forces with an entrepreneur who envisioned a computerized listing system for the marine industry. A few years later, Steve switched his focus and became a full-fledged yacht broker. In 1979 he formed HMY Yachts.

Tom brings over 20 years of management experience in the marine industry to HMY Yachts, including former affiliations with brokerage organizations as well as Bertram and Hatteras Yachts. He is originally from New England but moved progressively southward until landing in Florida during the early 90’s. Tom has attended many fishing tournaments and yachting rendezvous up and down the Coast, including the Bahamas and the Gulf Coast. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys spending time with his family in the Bahamas.

John moved from Long Island N.Y. to Broward County in the late 70s, His marine experience was enhanced by joining the Broward County Sheriff’s Office specializing as a Marine Deputy Sheriff. After early retirement, he joined the Allied Marine Group as a yacht broker selling Hatteras and Tiara Yachts. He was then recruited by Sunseeker as Vice President heading up a new International Brokerage company for the U.S. where he spent 10 years. Looking for a change, HMY Yachts was the perfect fit where he now manages the Dania and Miami office sales teams. John is an avid boater and enjoys spending time on the water with his family.

Laura relocated to South Florida from the Midwest in 1979 and found herself immediately drawn into the yachting community. Larry’s association with the marine industry made him a perfect choice for Chief Financial Officer. In 1997, he left Bertram Manufacturing and turned to HMY Yachts. Larry hails from Pennsylvania but has been in South Florida since 1964. He has been married nearly twenty years and has one son and one daughter.

Tim began his career in yacht brokerage in 1982 and brings nearly 30 years of sales experience to HMY Yachts. He also has an extensive background in new yacht sales, having been one of the top Viking Yacht salesman for over a dozen years.
Tim grew up in South Miami and spent his early years fishing Biscayne Bay and the offshore waters of Miami and the Florida Keys. Tim has also fished numerous tournaments from New England thru South Florida and the Bahamas, as well as throughout the Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America. Tim currently resides with his family in the Jupiter/Tequesta area and is actively involved with youth sports in the community.
Tim now focuses his efforts on developing, training, and assisting HMY Sales Professionals throughout the organization.

Mike joined HMY Yachts as New Yachts, Product Manager after a 30-year career in the South Florida marine industry. He moved from southern New Jersey to Broward County after graduating from Western Maryland College. He has worked in boat sales and sales management prior to acquiring experience in a broad spectrum of marine business activity. He has belonged to many marine industry organizations, received the Boatee Award for service on the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show committee, and was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Marine Industry Association of South Florida.
Mike also holds his United States Coast Guard Captain’s License. Continuing his industry education, Mike recently completed the Viking Master’s Program, Volvo Penta’s IPS Certification, and received the Certificate of Outstanding Performance from Tiara University.
In 1983, Mike earned national recognition when, as a Director of the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo, he led the development of the artificial reef-building project that became the most highly publicized program in Florida marine conservation history.

Jeff started with HMY Yachts as the company’s first captain in 1988 which allowed him to develop a special insight into the building, maintenance and service of yachts. Recently Jeff had the pleasure of working with one of his customer’s on an 83’ custom sport fishing vessel that took about 18 months to build. This vessel was featured on the cover of Southern Boating magazine, August 2009.
Jeff’s involvement in worldwide fishing tournaments provides hands on knowledge and experience when a fellow angler/boater is searching for the perfect fishing vessel. Not limited to sport fishing vessels, he has sold Viking Sport Cruisers and large motor yachts. He is sensitive to each client’s individual needs and puts forth 110% effort.

I have been in the marine industry for the past 36 years. Most of my early years were spent racing small sailboats, working in the boat dealership, selling sailboat hardware and doing rigging work. Those younger years were so intriguing, that I got to thinking about making a career of it. Initially starting in the sailboat industry, from small boats I gradually moved larger and larger.
I moved to Florida, in 1988, where the business was year-round and the waters were a gorgeous turquoise. I became the Vice President and General Manager of Eastern Yacht Sales, which was to develop into the largest sailboat dealer in the U.S. The Eastern Yacht Sales offices were in West Palm Beach & Miami and sold Catalina, Morgan, Freedom, J Boats, Island Packet, Sabre Yachts, Tartan and many other smaller sailboat lines.
As time went on, Eastern took on powerboats like the Sabreline 36 fast trawler and Cape Dory down-east cruisers. After 6 years in Florida, I knew that Ft. Lauderdale (often referred to as the yachting capital of the world) was the next stepping-stone in my career path. I searched for a company that had the need for someone with my extensive new boat sales background and very strong work ethic.
I chose Hal Jones & Co. because I saw an opportunity and a need for somebody with my knowledge, energy and enthusiasm for selling all series of new and used Grand Banks Yachts. I came to work at Hal Jones & Co. in 1995 and became Vice President of Sales. I continually helped Hal Jones & Co. exceed their expectations in sales for both new and used Grand Banks Yachts: Heritage Series, Eastbay Series and Aleutian Series, achieving numerous sales achievement awards from Grand Banks (from 2001 to 2006). I received the Top Worldwide Grand Banks Salesperson award for selling the most new and used Grand Banks Yachts in their entire Worldwide Dealer Network for 2003, 2005 and 2006.
With my clients’ specific needs in mind, I have semi-custom built over 30 new Grand Banks Yachts, including 5 of the Grand Banks Aleutian Series since its inception five years ago. Also, I have sold more than 100 pre-owned Grand Banks Yachts during my tenure at Hal Jones & Co. In addition, I have visited both of the Grand Banks factories, located in Singapore and Malaysia, many times since 1995 including five trips since the beginning of 2005.
When the opportunity came in the Fall of 2007, we started Classic Yachts International and continued as the authorized Grand Banks Dealer for Florida’s East Coast. Mary Ann was born in Ontario Canada and holds a Masters degree in Geography from the University of Windsor. She completed Ph.D coursework in Geography at the University of Maryland and began working as a researcher in Washington, DC. She moved to Florida in 1993 to work as a technical publication writer for a consumer safety expert witness. Her marine career began at a yacht brokerage firm in Pompano Beach, FL in 2000. She worked for a few yachting firms over the years as a closing administrator for a yacht dealership, marketing director for a custom yacht builder and executive assistant for a yacht brokerage/dealership.
Mary Ann joined HMY in 2011 as assistant to Stephen Fithian. She helps Steve in all matters relating to new builds (Grand Banks, Tiara, etc.) as well as brokerage. Originally from Illinois, Jay served nearly ten years in the U.S. Army where he served from Washington to Egypt, completed an Associate’s Degree, the Warrant Officers Course, Helicopter Flight Training and several Military Leadership Courses. He spent the last three years of active duty flying Air Ambulance helicopters in Alaska.
Returning to Illinois in 1995, Jay entered the boat business representing Viking Yachts, Navigator and Carver Yachts. Jay was consistently on Carvers top 10 Salesman list, and ultimately attained the #1 position in 2000.
In 2003 he accepted a management role with Staten Island Yacht Sales and in 2006 moved to Florida as the Vice President and General Manager of Trio Marine Group and transitioned to HMY.

As a “third generation” boat builder Tony was born to be in the boat business, literally. His Grandfather was a pioneer in the yachting industry and is credited with being one of the first people to build a fiberglass sailboat. Vince Lazzara went on to start several companies over his career including Columbia Yachts and later Gulf Star. Dick Lazzara, Tony’s father, went on to start world renowned Lazzara Yachts in 1990 and are still making yachts till this day. While Tony did not immediately join the family business out of college he did succumb to his passion for boats and joined Lazzara Yachts in 2004. Tony eventually was tasked with heading up Lazzara Yachts world renowned Customer Service department. It was here that Tony developed the tools to be successful as a sales person and establish customers for life.

Jim, or James as his European clients prefer, spent his childhood playing, and club racing, in various small motor and sail boats on Charleston (SC) harbor and thus began his love affair with the sea. His university studies were in architecture but subsequent to his Navy service he reverted to the sea, working in various maritime pursuits: heavy marine construction; commercial fishing; sport fishing; small boat charters; marine service; sail and power deliveries – basically anything to do with the ocean.
He started yacht brokerage in 1980 in Annapolis; initially this was for sales of sailing boats in the 30′-80′ size range. However, with his background in sport fishing and motor yachts, he was spending all of his time on planes to Florida or to Europe, to show and sell yachts. Thus, Jim moved to Palm Beach in 1993 to be closer to the vessels his clients desire and he has been a Florida resident since.

Jamie Wallace was born in Annapolis, MD and grew up in the Palm Beach, Florida area.
He has been involved with the ocean and boating since an early age, enjoying fishing, surfing, sailing, SCUBA diving and basically all water sports in locations from Belize to the British Virgin Islands and all along the US coasts. During college, he traveled extensively from Europe to Morocco to Southeast Asia which has given him a true international perspective.

I was born and raised in the Midwest and soon after I married we packed up and moved to Florida. I have been here ever since and have 2 children that were born and raised here. I consider myself a Florida Transplant after being here for more than 35 years.
Most of my career has been spent working in retail sales for a department store and as a sales manager for a leading wireless company. I have also had experience in real estate selling new homes for a Florida builder. In 2006 I had the good fortune to be offered a position with HMY where I have been since. I am now more in the sales support roll which I am enjoying very much for a change. My sales and real estate background have helped develop the skills needed for my position here at HMY Yachts. Having a great view from my office window of the intracoastal and beautiful yachts isn’t so bad either.

Bob has been in the brokerage business since 1982. He owned and operated Sportside Marine in New Jersey and Florida for 14 years before moving to Florida. While operating in Jersey, Bob was licensed in Florida with Gilman Yacht Sales. When Bob moved to Florida, he joined Gilman Yachts on a full time basis, and remained at Gilman’s North Palm Beach location until moving to HMY Yachts in 2009. Although quality production and custom sportfish boats have been his mainstay, Bob has sold quite a few motor yachts including a 131’ Feadship. He was also involved in the design and construction of a 97’ Horizon EPMY.

Originally from Montauk, New York, Mike has traveled extensively from Maine to Costa Rica on Tournament sportfish boats. During his travels, Mike placed in many prestigious tournaments and caught Bluefin tuna up to 1,000 pounds.

I, John Wise was born in Virginia’s Eastern Shore were at a young age I began boating and fishing and in a short time it became a passion I continue to enjoy with my family, friends and clients. I came to Stuart, Florida in 1989 and have been very blessed to fish all across the eastern seaboard, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela. After all the years I spent sportfishing, I decided to join the corporate world in 1994 and began as a sales representative for Fowler Carbonics Corp. in the Food and Beverage industry selling CO2 tanks locally to various bars and restaurants. With the growth and success of Fowler Carbonics Corp., I swiftly expanded my sales region to the entire East Coast. In 2004 Fowler Carbonic Corp. went public and it allowed for me to further develop my sales success to mergers and acquisitions covering all of the United States. Over the years, I have enjoyed our corporate success and still maintain many lifelong friends and associates that share my passion for fishing and boating. This helped me to make my decision in 2002 to became a Licensed Yacht Broker and spent 7 years with the team at Allied Richard Bertram of Stuart, FL selling Tiara, Bertram, and Azimut products, and various other sport fishing vessels. Marybeth brings to HMY Yachts a varied business background having worked in the television, golfing, nuclear power and security industries. Over the course of her employment with HMY, she has been assigned to three different HMY locations. She is currently assigned to HMY Stuart and enjoys the fast pace of this office.

Jill left her native state of New Jersey and lived in California, Alaska and Hawaii before moving to Florida 25 years ago, where her family had also relocated. Florida is now her home where she enjoys the ocean, golfing and spending time with friends and family. George grew up cruising and fishing the Florida waterways from a very young age. Born in Myrtle Beach, SC, his family moved to Jacksonville, FL shortly after. At age 8, his father gave him his first boat, a 10’ skiff with a 10 horsepower outboard motor, and George learned very quickly that boating and the water would be a significant part of his life.
Over the years, George has been involved in many aspects of boating from working part-time at a boat manufacturer as a teenager to family cruising, sport fishing, yacht restoration, and offshore power boat racing. I have been a member of various yacht clubs and boating organizations and attended a 2 year program at North Florida Marine Institute, earning certificates in various aspects of marine mechanics, also acquiring his Captain’s License.
After a successful 16 year career in sales and sales management positions, he decided to turn his years of passion and experience for boating into a career. “It is only natural for me to be involved with the sales and brokerage side of the business.” I spent several years in the marine industry working in the South Florida market before joining HMY two years ago.

Melissa is a native of Jacksonville and began working in the legal field in 1999, focusing on Civil Trial Litigation for a prestigious law firm in downtown Jacksonville.
In 2005 she began working on the legal side of Commercial Real Estate. Working in real estate, her strong focus was on leasing and development for the Sleiman brothers, who own the majority of strip malls and shopping centers in Jacksonville, as well as many other states.
Melissa joined the HMY team in August of 2011 as an Assistant to George Ivey, Mike Hemingway and also Roger Hansen and Mike Webster at HMY’s newly acquired office, located at Lambs Yacht Center on the Ortega River in Jacksonville. She handles brokerage listings, closings, maintaining both Jacksonville locations and is very excited to have the opportunity to work at HMY with such a wonderful group of people. She is interested in learning as much about our luxury vessels as possible!

Roger has been an active yacht broker since 1973, as a dealer for Hatteras, Bertram and Californian Yachts. After several years running his own company, in 1999 Roger joined up with MarineMax to manage their Jacksonville brokerage location. With all the changes in the industry over the years, Roger decided to look for other avenues to continue his brokerage business, and reached out to HMY. He is now a member of our team and has retained the home base at Lambs Yacht Center where there are hundreds of slips under cover for new and brokerage vessels. Mike has been employed full time in marine sales in Jacksonville since 1984. He joined Hansen Yachts at Lamb’s Yacht Center in 1991, continually based out of the same “floating showroom” location selling a diverse range of new, trade and brokerage vessels.

Robert grew up fishing and sailing on Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay. He graduated from The College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina where he was named an NCAA Collegiate All-American Sailor. He has sixteen years in the marine industry having worked with American Sail, Inc., Hall Marine Group / Sea Ray / Azimut, and for the last seven years with HMY Yachts in Charleston.
His brokerage experience is extensive and he has recently been involved with building several new Viking Yachts with clients and spending a week at the Riviera Yachts facility in Coomera Australia.

Growing up in Cold Spring Harbor, NY, Tim enjoyed cruising and fishing with his family throughout the North Atlantic. After graduating from Roanoke College with a BS in Business Administration, and meeting his now wife from South Carolina, he moved to Charleston and began his career with Charleston Yacht Sales.
Tim joined HMY Yachts in 1999, and has since lead the Charleston office in sales for 8 out of the past 12 years, receiving numerous sales awards at HMY’s national annual sales meetings in Miami. He is a Viking Master’s graduate and is well versed in all aspects of the transaction process including surveys, tax laws, market valuations, marine finance and insurance as well as contract negotiations.
Tim’s understanding and mastery of today’s digital photography equipment gives his clients an important edge when it comes to presenting a boat for sale. Global clients are now a significant part of the business and Tim’s photography will provide a professional presentation of your vessel both in print ads and on the internet.
Fishing is Tim’s passion, he is involved with the S.C. Governor’s Cup and on the board of the S.C. RFA. He enjoys fishing at home and all over the world with clients, friends, and his young family.

Over the past two years, Courtney worked as an Office Assistant for the Charleston City Marina, home to HMY Yachts’ Charleston branch. Her transition into the HMY Yachts of the Carolina’s Office Assistant position gave her an opportunity to use her skills more effectively but remain in a location that is familiar.
